












The groundbreaking ceremony for Bandar Baharu Seri Milian was held on 15 August 2025 at the Dataran Terbuka Pekan Kota Kinabatangan, officiated by the Chief Minister of Sabah, YAB Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Bin Haji Noor.
A joint venture between Sunmow and Majlis Daerah Kinabtangan, the 63.73-hectare (or 157.48 acre) township will be developed in phases, with full completion targeted within 10 years. Milian, meaning “Sungai” in the local language, reflects the heritage of Sungai people of Kinabatangan, for whom the township is named. Strategically located in the heart of Sabah, the development links Sandakan, Kota Kinabatangan, Lahad Datu and Tawau, positioning it as a future growth hub. Upon completion, Bandar Baharu Seri Milian is expected to boost the local economy through job creation, business opportunities and enhanced tourism appeal.
